COUTURE FASHION WEEK – NEW YORK
International Fashion Designer Alexandra Popescu-York, made her sixth consecutive appearance at the 24th Couture Fashion Week in New York with her Spring and Summer 2017 collection of timeless essentials entitled ‘Tour du Monde’ (World Tour), which won her the Best Designer title shared with Anniesa Hasibuan, Andres Aquino, Vanny Tousignant, and Dauphine of France by Chandra Peyton. Intended as a capsule-type collection that never goes out of fashion, ‘Tour du Monde’ is as timeless and stirring as the memories of one’s soul-enriching travels around the world, from the iconic Côte d’Azur and Saharan sunsets to the centuries-old cathedrals, boulevards and royal gardens.
‘Tour du Monde’ collection made its mark on the 9/11 evening at Couture Fashion Week (CFW) New York in Times Square. The remarkable presentation had an encore in the BEST CFW Designer collective show closing the world-class event that same night. As always, Alexandra’s CFWNY show was opened by celebrity model Farah Zulaikha –who is also a United Nations award-winning humanitarian, a fashion and beauty ambassador, a Carnegie Hall guest violinist, a writer and a bio-med researcher; and then fully revealed by some of New York’s best models including: fitness champion Zhanna Striano, Finnish born Nea McLin supermodel at American Top Model, pro-model & actress Josephine Webb, Romanian born Diana Mădălina Puşcaşu, and many more. Alexandra Popescu-York and her team presenting that day wore black ribbon memorial bracelets to honor the 9/11 victims.
